The second mod on Long WarвЂ™s roster this week is the Long War Laser Pack, which adds a new tier of laser weapons to the game to make blasting the alien threat to cinders all the more enjoyable.В Each weapon is modeled and textured to perfectly fit the XCOMВ theme and slots perfectly into the XCOM 2вЂ™s desperate fight for survivalВ like a missing piece of the puzzle that somehow makes the whole rest of the puzzle more challenging yet simultaneously more interesting. These changes, as well as all of the other changes within the mod, are integrated seamlessly into the gameвЂ™s GUI, a small touch in the modding world but something that just makes the whole thing feel extremely polished. Rather than blasting the level cap to oblivion, these new perks and abilities are available as a third option when a soldier is promoted, serving to balance the new abilities by forcing the player to sacrifice one of the old, while simultaneously opening up a whole new world of soldiers to design and hopefully watch become experienced veterans in the field. Move fast, hit hard, and then get out, the true blue Guerrilla tactics of historyвЂ™s most vicious fighters. The final new class is the Assault, a throwback to the shotgun blasting class of earlier XCOM titles, now with one hundred percent more swords. The Gunner on the other hand is meant to fill a heavy weapons role, with a variety of trick shots and suppression mechanics available early on in his career вЂ“ a blend of utility and damage with a cannon mixed in to make things really interesting. The Shinobi focuses on stealth, extreme mobility, and melee combat, allowing you to outpace your targets in relative secrecy and with the touch of a subtle hand pull off nuanced ambushes before the enemy even knows whatвЂ™s coming. These tweaks are meant to add to the overall flow of the game while simultaneously filling out the tactical roster to fit your needs. To that end, the Perk Pack adds over 70 new or somewhat tweaked abilities to the main game, while overhauling the base gameвЂ™s classes and adding three more soldier archetypes to the fray. The Long War Perk Pack is meant to add an almost ridiculously large amount of content to the character development available in the base game, making it possible to create an even more diverse team of soldiers to push back the alien horde.
